This week in Humanities, students continued to delve into their novels. They have had the opportunity to meet in groups and discuss various aspects of the stories. There have been so many rich conversations about character development, author’s craft, connections and plot development. Students have also spent some time exploring the Glenbow Museum’s online exhibition, Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta, in preparation for our upcoming final Humanities unit.
This week in Math/Science we have begun our study of fractions. Important concepts in our work revolved around how all fractions pieces must be equal in size, when comparing fractions the wholes must be equal, and how a set of objects can be equal to 1. Students are continuing their exploration of light and shadow and beginning to explore the concepts of perimeter and area, as well. The Calgary Zoo came in to Connect Charter to lay down the ground work with two classes in grade four and to continue our exploration of shadow.
