Fourth Graders spent their short week in Humanities, tying up their connections to advertisements and persuasive strategies. Students revisited the advertisement they had previously analyzed and were asked what changes they would make to appeal to a new target audience. In addition to this activity, they were provided with 4 different advertisements and asked to rank them from strongest to weakest. After students had a chance to form their own opinions, they were tasked with coming to a consensus with their table group. Both of these activities sparked some lively discussions among the students.
Students also used their time to reflect on how their knowledge of First Nations People and stories have changed over the past few weeks. Grade fours submitted a response on Edmodo, that will be graded at a later date.
Consent forms for our annual field trip to the Glenbow Museum were also sent home this week. If you have not yet signed the form and sent it back to the school, please find it attached below. We are also looking for a large number of parent volunteers to help chaperone and attend the full day field trip on Friday, April 10th. If you have security clearance and are able to join us, please contact your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Have a warm and restful spring break!

Two Wheel View has provided the grade fours with the mechanical skills to fix a flat tire, change crank arms, and re-align the chain on the cog. It is now their time to create and test modifications addressed in their "ultimate proposal". This outline will be the students ticket to begin their initial measurements, brainstorm the logistics of their procedure, and launch the testing behind their design. The students have been introduced to a software called Bikecad, which has magnified their knowledge of the terms and simple machines found in a bicycle.
