SAHT
Thank you to all the families that came out to our Southern Alberta History Tour information evening. For anyone who was unable to attend, the packages have been sent home with your child. Included in the package are 3 forms that need to be returned on or before May 20, 2015. (Informed Consent form, Subway order form and the Frank Slide Waiver form). The Powerpoint presentation from the evening is on the Blog under important links.
The cost of the trip is $250.00 and can be paid online through the Family link on the school website or by cheque. If you are experiencing financial difficulties please contact Mr. Lonsberry ([email protected]) and the school will work with you to ensure your child is able to attend this amazing trip.
Please ensure you have updated your child's medical files as well so we are aware of any changes that may have occurred over the year. We ask that you email your homeroom teacher of what medicine will be arriving the morning of the trip. All medicine needs to be in a ziplock bag with your child's name. Inside the bag, please include a recipe type card with your child's name, name of medication, what it is for, the correct dosage and when it is to be administered. Please see the example below. If your child has night terrors or issues with bed wetting, we would appreciate if you disclose this information to the teachers so we may support him/her. In the case of pull ups, put them in a brown paper bag and we will distribute them discretely as "medicine".
Volunteers are also required to submit the Frank Slide Waiver form and Subway lunch order. We ask that you email Mrs. Melville ([email protected]) any food restrictions or allergies you have so we can notify the locations ahead of time. If you are on any medications or have health issues that may arise, please put this information in a sealed envelope and give it to your child's homeroom teacher. These envelope's will only be opened in case of an emergency.
If you have any questions about this trip we encourage you to email your homeroom teacher.
We are all looking forward to this wonderful experience with our amazing grade 4 students.

Health Unit - Human Sexuality - Puberty
All the classes have begun the health unit this week. Thank you for being supportive and allowing the discussions to continue at home. We have set out guidelines for the students during these classes and although there are some giggles the students are showing great maturity.
Math and Science
We started off the week in math with an assessment on Multiplication and Division. The students have found many strategies to decipher the questions and come to accurate solutions. We will be moving into fractions and decimals immediately following the long weekend. In science, our mechanical engineers have had many break throughs in their knowledge of simple machines. The bike modifications have taken on new forms with the groups finding many successes within their own learning.

Humanities
This week in Humanities, students presented their persuasive iMovies. 4.1 joined 4.3 and 4.2 joined 4.4 to view the videos and to provide each other with positive comments on their efforts. We also spent time exploring the question,"What makes a good story?". Each class will be creating their own top 5 must haves for an awesome story. This list will be used in Writer's Workshop, as well as in our upcoming novel study centred around the Frank Slide.
Have a terrific long weekend!
